Departures![]() We offer three distinct expeditions: Upper River Float, Lower River Float, and Drive/Float. Each is an MRO signature journey: spectacular landscape, fascinating culture, comfortable camps, excellent food, wonderful guides, and access to some of the world's finest fly-fishing water. On all MRO trips, anglers fish a different stretch of river daily with no shuttles between. We keep our seasonal angler numbers low to maintain the river, the fish and the experience. The Upper and Lower River trips are designed so each angler enjoys several days of fishing solo with a guide. Depending upon availability, hard-core anglers may combine the Upper and Lower River adventures for thirteen days of fishing and floating. Please contact us for further information, including a comprehensive itinerary and trip planner. Upper River Float This is the classic MRO trip. Great comfort. Great fishing. Fly-in/Fly-out to river. Two boats and guides launch daily. The trip is limited to only two to four anglers per departure. This makes it a great journey for a small group of friends. While on the river, you'll stay five nights in comfortable ger camps and be hosted one evening by your guide at his lovely village home near the river. Cost: US$ 3,750. Inclusions/Exclusions Prices are based upon double occupancy. Price includes all fishing permits, airport transfers, guide service, at least one night hotel stay in Ulaanbaatar for both arrival and departure days, transport to/from the river, and all meals, lodging, soft drinks, beer, wine and classic Mongolian vodka on the river. Price does not include international airfare. Office and Guide Services in Ulaanbaatar While traveling through Ulaanbaatar en route to the river, the services of a professional English-speaking guide will be available to accompany you to cultural sites, shopping and meals. You'll also benefit from the twenty-four hour support of our full-time Nomadic Journeys office and international staff. Our offices are located at the very center of Mongolia's capital in a historical building just across the street from the Natural History Museum. This can be very helpful if the need for changing airline reservations or other travel glitches should arise. Payments and Reservations We request a 50%, non-refundable advance payment to hold your reservation and payment in full ninety days prior to departure. Payments may be made by check, wire transfer or credit card. Unfortunately, we must charge a small fee for credit card transactions. Again, if you're interested, please contact us. These trips tend to fill up early. We're more than happy to send additional information and/or set up a time to call you and discuss the trips. Fishing Permits Mongolia law now requires that every foreign angler obtain a variety of fishing permits. There are additional restrictions and active enforcement on the rivers we fish. Failure to have the appropriate paperwork may result in heavy fines, confiscation of equipment, and expulsion from the country. We arrange for all permits in advance and have long-term operations and conservation agreements with all relevant government agencies. ![]() |
